
Pichai acknowledged that complicated policies are always changing globally and claimed that artificial intelligence (AI) is a new frontier, with Google “innovating on behalf of users.”
On the margins of the Google I/O event on Wednesday, Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google and Alphabet, emphasized to international media that the company is much more than just an advertising company.
“We are most likely the third-biggest provider of enterprise software. We have Waymo, but you can also consider Android or Google Play. We now have AI subscription software, YouTube offers both advertising and subscriptions, and so on. When questioned if its recent push for AI was also solely to optimize its advertising revenue, he added, “So we are pretty broad that way.”
“Like our other businesses, all of our teams approach advertising with an emphasis on quality. Furthermore, we should not undervalue the fact that businesses are attempting to contact consumers who are searching for commercial information in any economy. We approach connecting, which is a vital service, with that fundamental concept in mind. In some situations, AI will make those advertisements more relevant to individuals. If we ever make a mistake, all of our measurements will demonstrate that,” he continued.
According to Pichai, privacy is a core principle for Google as a business, and given the services they offer, “it’s a privilege to have users trust in us.”

In response to a question about what Google was doing to comply with data privacy laws like GDPR as it rolls out our AI products, he stated, “I have been encouraged by my conversations with European Union leaders who are seeing this as an opportunity to invest in, innovate, and also to simplify regulation so that people like us can serve European consumers.”
“We are dedicated to delivering these products to European consumers, who are equally eager for access to them. Therefore, I believe it presents a chance for Europe as well.
Personally, Pichai, who this year marks ten years as Google’s CEO, stated that he has always been drawn to the company’s use of deep technology to improve people’s lives.
For the past ten years, we have been investing in quantum computing, and we tried to make it a reality. Despite the prevailing pessimism, we continued to invest in WayMo three years ago. He added that this is what caused him to leave his PhD program, but he still advises him to use some of that energy. “We have always taken a foundational approach, a research and science and technology approach, but relentlessly working to bring it into the hands of as many people as possible,” he said. “One of my favorite aspects of my job is being close to research.”
Regarding the current state of technology, Pichai stated that if he is going to be away for a few weeks, he must visit the DeepMind team to learn about the developments during that time.
“I doubt that a period like that has ever existed. We have been shipping and innovating at a breakneck speed. Our current guiding principle is to get items into people’s hands as quickly as feasible.
