Janhvi Kapoor talked about spending several summers in Cannes with her late mother, Sridevi.
Attending the premiere of her film Homebound, which was directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, Janhvi Kapoor made her Cannes Film Festival red carpet debut. Janhvi was wearing a pink saree as she made her initial entrance on the red carpet. “Dreamy and ethereal” is how she described her style. She added that this was her first time working with her cousin Rhea Kapoor, who is well-known for styling a number of Bollywood celebrities. Last year, she also styled Radhika Merchant for her wedding events. Janhvi also mentioned Cannes as one of her favorite vacation spots and talked about her late mother, star Sridevi.
“This was actually mom’s favorite place to come to for holidays,” Janhvi said in a video posted by Vogue India. And we stayed here for three or four summers in a row. As a family, it felt like a huge event. Every time my mother accomplished something, received an award, or had a movie, I recalled English Vinglish. I believe Dad was filming somewhere, or it had its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. We would always spend these significant life events as a family, experiencing and celebrating them together. In 2018, Sridevi passed away.
Jahnvi revealed that she attended the celebration accompanied by her sister Khushi Kapoor and father Boney Kapoor. “We’ve returned to Cannes at last. I’m with Dad and Khushi. I’m not sure. Coming back here without her is strange, I suppose, especially because she always takes me to all of her important events. She added, “I mean, obviously, I miss her a lot.”
Regarding her initial impression of the event, Janhvi revealed that Rhea did not want her to appear overly gorgeous, so they made the decision to try something different. “She deserves all the credit for everything that occurs at this festival in terms of fashion, so I’m just really excited to see her vision come to life.” It’s gorgeous, pink, and quite dreamy. Rhea Didi was quite explicit about wanting me to appear something ethereal on the carpet. I think it’s time to switch things up, but I’m not overly glamorous, which I’ve been guilty of for every previous red carpet event I’ve done, which I’ve enjoyed,” she remarked.
