Freddo Cappuccino Recipe – Authentic Greek Iced Cappuccino (Easy Homemade Guide)

Ingredients
  

For the Freddo Espresso :

  • 2 shots freshly brewed espresso
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1-2 tsp sugar (optional, adjust to taste)

For the Cold Foamed Milk :

  • ¼ cup cold whole milk (or low-fat milk)
  • 1–2 ice cubes (optional, for extra thick foam)

Optional Add-ins :

  • Flavored syrups (vanilla, caramel, hazelnut)
  • Non-dairy milk: almond, oat, coconut, soy
  • Cocoa powder for topping
  • Cinnamon for a warm finish

Instructions
 

Step 1: Brew the Espresso

  • Brew a strong double espresso using an espresso machine, moka pot, or any strong coffee method. Fresh espresso tastes best, but strong brewed coffee can also work in a pinch.

Step 2: Sweeten While Hot

  • Add sugar to the hot espresso until it dissolves completely if you like your Freddo Cappuccino sweetened.

Step 3: Shake Espresso with Ice

  • Pour half of the ice into a jar or cocktail shaker. After adding the espresso, give it a good shake for ten to fifteen seconds, or until it is cold and somewhat foamy.

Step 4: Prepare Milk Foam

  • Pour cold milk and an optional ice cube into a different cup. To make a thick, creamy foam, use an electric whisk on medium speed or a handheld frother. Instead of being bubbly, the foam should be thick and glossy.

Step 5: Assemble the Drink

  • Put some fresh ice cubes in a large glass. Pour the shaken espresso through a strainer into the glass. Gently place the cool milk foam on top, allowing it to float on top.

Step 6: Serve Immediately

  • Add some chocolate powder or cinnamon if desired. Savor your real Freddo Cappuccino!

Notes

  • Warm milk will not produce the right Greek-style foam; always froth cold milk.
  • The thickest, most stable foam is produced by whole milk.
  • Espresso should only be shaken until it's cold; shaking too much will dilute the flavor.
  • For the lovely layered appearance, use clear glass.
